For months Dylan allowed Matt to trail him at Clown Town only because, at times, Dylan required Matt's assistance in surmounting certain obstacles there. 'Leg up, please', Dylan would command Matt, at such times. They were like the characters in the film The Good the Bad and the Ugly, who retained selfish goals even as they needed one another to fulfill them.

One day Dylan discovered how to surmount the last of the obstacles on his own, without help. Immediately he turned around and pushed Matt away, until Matt was forced to watch from the ground, alone, while Dylan climbed higher.
