Is 'fortnight' a word commonly used in England? It means 20 days or so, right?

Oh. Per Wiki, commonly used in Britain, rarely in the U.S. From Old English fourteen nights.

Yep. I almost wish that you hadn't looked it up, so that I could explain it myself. The American translation would be "two weeks".

There is also a British adverb "fortnightly". This is better than "every second week". A lot of my meetings are fortnightly.

I forgot to add, the reason we go every other Sunday, instead of every Sunday, is that I get kind of tired of chips and beans.
